As a Head Chef, you’ll be at the heart of providing nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents, ensuring every dish meets a high standard of culinary excellence. You’ll manage the kitchen team, oversee food preparation, plan menus, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Your role also includes creating a positive dining experience, catering to special dietary needs, and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen. Staff training and a strong commitment to health and safety will be key components of your responsibilities.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a similar environment
- Culinary degree or relevant certification
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs, and food safety regulations
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to collaborate with other departments within the care home
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures
- Experience in training and supervising kitchen staff
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
- NVQ Level 3 in Catering or an equivalent qualification is desirable
