Job Description: We are looking for a hardworking and reliable General Assistant to join our team in the staff canteen. The successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day operations of the canteen, ensuring smooth service, cleanliness, and an enjoyable dining experience for staff members. This is a great opportunity for someone with a positive attitude and a passion for food service.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food and beverages to staff
  • Ensure the canteen is kept clean, tidy, and well-stocked at all times
  • Operate the till and handle cash/credit card transactions as required
  • Assist with setting up and clearing tables and counters
  • Follow health, safety, and hygiene standards in all food preparation and serving areas
  • Assist in receiving and organising deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff and resolve any inquiries or concerns
  • Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation tasks as needed
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., catering, food service, or kitchen assistance) is a plus, but not essential
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions from the Head Chef or Canteen Manager
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • High standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings and afternoons
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices
